The Impossible “Movember” Market
Charity ride and retail therapy in the name of men’s health When’s the last time you organised a date with your mate? The Movember Foundation promotes men’s health on a global scale all year round, though come November, or “Movember” as it’s affectionately dubbed, you’ll start to see more moustaches sprouting as the fundraising goes into full swing. The charity addresses some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

Our lives aren’t a journey, they’re a song
A beautiful and powerful reminder of living in the moment and treating our lives with a sense of playfulness. We don’t listen to music to seek the end of a song, just like we don’t dance to arrive at a certain point in the room – we simply dance to enjoy dancing.
Making The Impossible Possible
UK import Rebecca Stern has always been creative but knew that her creativity was best when it was shared. A graduate of Brighton University’s Critical Fine Art Practice, she travelled to India before settling in Australia with her young son. A tutorial on stamping herb names on spoons inspired “House of Bec” – a collection of vintage silver plated cutlery brought to life by stamping inspiring, funny and sentimental messages on them. Her range then extended to silver floristry, using casts of real succulents to capture nature’s fleeting designs into wearable pieces of jewellery.
A seminar by Marcus Westbury, “serial starter of new things”
The man who inspired so many of Newcastle’s creative projects and has helped drive Newcastle’s living culture, Marcus Westbury, is someone I’ve always looked up to. A self-confessed “serial starter of new things”, Marcus is responsible for two of the projects that have helped me find my feet within my niche: This is Not Art Festival (TiNA) and Renew Newcastle. I identify with his career as he what he does is so integral to the arts scene but in itself “Not Quite Art” (also, fittingly, the title of a three-part ABC series written and hosted by Westbury in ’07 & ’08).
