ABOUT PROJECT

I operate Talk to Bec out of The Roost, which is a community of independent creative people sharing space and ideas.

In May 2015, The Roost graduated from The Renew Newcastle project and became independently committed to an open-plan studio based in Hunter St Mall, Newcastle. I was approached by the board to take over management on a part-time basis and grow the not-for-profit association, create a more productive workspace for members, revive the culture and develop long-term strategies and processes. I look after the day-to-day running of the space (including finances) and report to the board of directors.

During my time in this leadership position we have re-branded, installed outdoor signage, recruited nine new members, launched a new website, hosted events and workshops, upgraded internal facilities and made a behind-the-scenes video.
